For informational purposes about scientific research only. Retatrutide is a research compound and is not approved for human use.
Retatrutide โ research code LY3437943 โ has quickly become one of the most discussed compounds in metabolic research. Whereas single GLP-1 agonists such as semaglutide are already widely studied, retatrutide stands out by activating three hormone receptors at the same time: GLP-1, GIP and glucagon. That makes it a particularly interesting subject for scientists exploring the boundaries of metabolic regulation.
What makes retatrutide unique as a research compound?
Most well-known compounds in the GLP class activate one or two receptors. Retatrutide is a so-called triple agonist and acts simultaneously on:
- GLP-1 receptor โ involved in insulin secretion and appetite regulation in research models
- GIP receptor โ plays a role in fat storage and energy metabolism
- Glucagon receptor โ influences liver metabolism and energy expenditure
Phase 2 results
In 2023, The New England Journal of Medicine published results of a phase 2 trial of retatrutide. The full data and methodology can be found in the publication itself. The study was conducted by Eli Lilly and formed the scientific basis for further research designs.
Important: these are research results from a clinical trial under medical supervision, not from uncontrolled use.
Where does the research stand in 2026?
Eli Lilly has launched the TRIUMPH programme: a series of phase 3 trials on retatrutide. In 2026, several lines of research are running in parallel:
- TRIUMPH-1 and TRIUMPH-2 โ long-term data on metabolic outcomes across different dose groups and populations
- MASH research โ Metabolic dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis is being investigated as a possible area of study
- HFpEF research โ scientists are exploring possible links between retatrutide and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
Definitive phase 3 data are expected in the coming years. The research is still very much ongoing.
Retatrutide as a research compound: availability and storage
Retatrutide is available in lyophilised (freeze-dried) form, which ensures maximum stability during storage and transport. For laboratory use, it is recommended to keep the compound unreconstituted at 2โ8ยฐC, or at โ20ยฐC for long-term storage.
After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, the compound remains stable at 4ยฐC for a maximum of 4 weeks.
Retatrutide is available at Peptide Europe in strengths from 10mg to 40mg, HPLC-tested at โฅ98% purity, with the COA (COA) per batch online.
All products at Peptide Europe are intended strictly for scientific research and laboratory use. Not intended for human consumption.
